It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to be part of this training. The feedback was not only that they enjoyed the day but learnt a lot which they said would be extremely useful in dealing with conflict issues and more generally. The school intends to implement a peer mediation scheme and now has potential mediators queueing up to be involved. I also picked up a few tips for myself along the way. Creators of the Training
Janine Edge was inspired to create TalkingWorks following her work with the New Zealand Peace Foundation, which has been teaching mediation in schools for over 20 years.
The training was created and developed by Janine with Lead Trainer Jackie Miller and they have continued to improve and adapt it in response to regular feedback from our students, schools and mediator coaches.
Janine Edge (MA (Cantab), MSc) is the founder of TalkingWorks. She is a practicing mediator (accredited with Regent's College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling and the ADR Group) and trained as a restorative practice facilitator.

Jackie Miller (MA, Cert Ed) is the head trainer of TalkingWorks. She is a practicing commercial, community and workplace mediator, accredited with the ADR Group and the Regent’s College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

TalkingWorks activities and its continuing development are led by a board of five unpaid trustees. All five are accredited mediators with first-hand experience of the power and creativity of the mediation process.
They also bring a range of additional skills and experience that, between them, cover the needs of an active and growing educational charity.
Together with the Lead Trainers (see below) and the Administrator, Lavinia Shaw-Brown, they form the TalkingWorks Management Board

Coaches and Trainers
Coaches are drawn from a large pool of accredited mediators with whom TalkingWorks has formed connections. Some of these come from our sponsors, many are lawyers and all see the enormous value of this training to the students. Coaches only need commit to one day's training which attracts either 6 mediation CPD points or counts for one practice, as defined by the Civil Mediation Council. Feedback from the coaches has been extremely positive.
If you are an accredited and practicing mediator and would like to volunteer, please contact us.
Some coaches with relevant experience in teaching and/or coaching may be invited to undertake further training to become a lead trainer in due course.Top
