Board of Trustees
TalkingWorks’ activities and its continuing development are led by a board of five unpaid trustees who form TalkingWorks’ Board”. All five are accredited mediators with first-hand experience of the power and creativity of the mediation process.
They also bring a range of additional skills and experience that, between them, cover the needs of an active and growing educational charity.
Tim trained as a barrister and is an accredited mediator. He is head of policy and strategy at the European Tourism Association. He was formerly director of operations and product development at EF Education. He has been a volunteer coach with Talking Works since 2011.
Gill is an experienced commercial mediator (CEDR accredited in 2006) who has successfully mediated disputes on both sides of the Atlantic. She is a member of the CIArb’s Panel of Experienced Civil and Commercial Mediators (London) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s panel of IP Mediators (Geneva).
She is also a trained barrister and busy in-house commercial lawyer with over 20 years’ legal and commercial experience.
Andy has practised as a management consultant for 30 years - with Deloitte Consulting till 1999 and as an independent consultant since then. He acted as a trainer in meeting facilitation for senior colleagues at Deloitte throughout the European region in parallel with his client work. He qualified as a Management Accountant while at Deloitte and also completed an international training programme in the application of Gestalt Psychotherapy to organisation development.
In his latter years at Deloitte and as an independent consultant, his practice has focused on supporting organisational change and on defining and starting up major organisational projects.
He is accredited by ADRg as a Civil and Commercial and as a Workplace Mediator and he is also an active community mediator.
Tim has over 35 years experience working in conflict resolution among young people as a teacher, pastoral lead and as an ordained minister of the Church in Wales. He was appointed Chaplain at St David’s College in Llandudno in 1990 and began introducing mediation skills training there in 1996. Since then his work has drawn him into facilitating conflict resolution in every facet of school life.
In 1994 he pioneered a programme in Rwanda and Uganda to help young people share cross-cultural experience.
He qualified as a Peer Mediation Trainer with The Scottish Mediation Network in 2009 and as a Civil and Commercial Mediator with ADRg in 2011.

Jonathan has provided strategic business development and marketing solutions to a broad range of commercial, charity and third sector organisations for over 30 years both on the client side and as a consultant..
Since 2007, as Strategic Marketing for Schools, Jonathan has focussed on supporting schools (special, independent, academies and maintained mainstream) with student recruitment and business strategy, planning and implementation plus advising schools on how to thrive in today’s challenging times in the educational market.
He engages extensively with the Department for Education (with Ministers and senior officials) and over 100 local authorities around England.
Jonathan is also an accredited mediator using a psychological focus to deliver effective resolutions in civil and commercial disputes.
Robert founded STILL HR in January 2007 following on from a successful HR career in the charity sector. Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and Fellow of the Institute of Consultants, he co-ordinates STILL HR’s services enabling clients to create happier workplaces. Robert leads on projects involving respect, diversity and inclusion, enabling organisational change and individual transformation. He is a qualified workplace mediator and one of only a few Accredited Team Mediators.
Coaches are drawn from a large pool of accredited mediators with whom TalkingWorks has formed connections. Many are also qualified and practising lawyers. Coaches volunteer their time and expertise to attend the one day training. The training attracts either 6 mediation CPD points or counts for one mediation observation or practice, as defined by the Civil Mediation Council. Feedback from the coaches has been extremely positive and all see the enormous value of this training to the students.
