TalkingWorks Training

The learning strategy is sharply focused and first class. The students showed an impressive level of practical understanding of mediation at the end of the training   Dr Leonardo Raznovich, Strategic Head of Law and Dispute Resolution at Canterbury Christ Church University, who has assessed the training.

What we do

TalkingWorks provides a one-day practical training in mediation skills developed specifically for sixth-formers and other post-16 students.

The training is led by an experienced trainer, assisted by a team of professional mediators and the audience is typically around 35 students.  The suggested minimum number of students for the training is 20 and the maximum 50.

What makes it special

Most of the training consists of practical exercises and role-plays in groups of 4 to 6 students, with each group receiving coaching from a professional mediator.

Students acquire skills they can immediately put to use in their lives such as active listening, empathising, effective questioning, generating solutions and being impartial.  They receive a certificate and booklet at the end of the day summarising the training.

Conflict resolution is a skill for life: Put simply, those that can resolve conflict go further than those who cannot. The TalkingWorks mediation course is very popular with our lower sixth-formers who recognise the relevance and the empowerment of the skills they learnt in one compact day  Penny Rowell, Deputy Head, Uppingham School
